Donald Gordon Truxillo (Don), 87, peacefully went to be with his savior on Monday, September 11, 2023 surrounded by his family at his home after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Don was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1935 to Robert and Anna Truxillo. After high school, Don joined the US Navy. While his ship was in Pennsylvania for maintenance, he met his soulmate and forever bride, Cathy. After a few weeks, their love for each other was clear and they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Don and Cathy were married in a beautiful ceremony in Pennsylvania on January 5, 1956.  After Don’s discharge from the Navy, he worked as a machinery mechanic for a variety of food and drug manufacturing facilities before going to work for McNeil Consumer Products. He retired from McNeil after 25 years.  During that time, Don and Cathy had three daughters. They moved to Georgetown, Texas in 1978 and from there enjoyed watching their family grow and expand through grandchildren and great grandchildren. Their last and final move was to Walburg in 1996 where Don built, by his own hands, Cathy’s dream of a southern plantation style home.

He is survived by Cathy, his lifelong loving and devoted wife of 67 years; brother Peter Truxillo of Metairie, Louisiana, brother Wayne Truxillo and his wife Sandra of Houston, Texas, brother Glenn Truxillo and his wife Betsy of Santa Barbara, California; daughter Terri King and her husband Lewis of Walburg, Texas, daughter Debbie Williams and her husband Gary of Georgetown, Texas, daughter Bonnie Peers and her husband John of Addison, New York; grandchildren Kate Barrett and her husband Jeremy, Ashley King, Megan Arizpe and her husband Taylor, Laura Fisher and her husband Cody, Donnie Peers and his wife Haley, and Bobby Peers; great-grandchildren Elizabeth (Renae), Tamara Jene (TJ) Capatillo and her husband Aaron, Zolan, Carson, Caroline, Lacy, Tilly, Andi Celeste, and John William, as well as numerous nieces and nephews; along with their dear friends, that are more like family,  Arch and Erica Duran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Truxillo, sister Linda Joullian, grandson Justin Peers, and dear friends Duke and Gil Westling.

Memorial service will be at Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg Texas at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
