Michael Edward Hall died March 24, 2024, at age 70, in Temple, Texas. Michael was born to James Arnold Hall and Ruth Elise Hall September 30, 1953, in the Naval Hospital in San Diego, California.

He grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area with interludes living in Cucuta, Colombia, and London, England. His junior year of high school was at the Overseas School of London. During the family’s stay in London trips were taken to Scotland, Wales, Spain, France, Holland, Switzerland and Italy, firmly planting in him a love for travel.

Michael’s natural musical talent became clear at an early age. He played several musical instruments but specialized in the piano and saxophone, performing both as part of a group and as a solo pianist. He was the proud owner of a Conn “Naked Lady” tenor saxophone, which he carried with him as he traveled the world. Having achieved an academic record of all A’s in his senior year of high school he was accepted at all three of the colleges to which he applied and chose to attend the University of California at Davis. He did not get a degree but chose instead to travel and experience life in a variety of places.

One of his early adventures was to live in Minneapolis to experience cold weather. There he experienced frostbite on his toes but also enjoyed the people and made a life-long friend — Lori Nelson. He lived, and worked, in London, Berlin and Prague.

He also visited other European countries and Thailand. He became a highly skilled carpenter and for a time specialized in renewing Victorian houses in San Francisco.

Later he became a licensed general contractor doing business in the Bay Area and later in the Grass Valley and Nevada City area. The 2008 financial crisis and following recession cost him his business and in 2010 he moved to Georgetown, Texas.

In addition to his music, he enjoyed history and astronomy and through self-study became knowledgeable in both.

He leaves behind his parents, his son, Morgan Jernigan-Hall, Amada Jo Pavlicik and granddaughter Teagan, his sister Patty Snow, brother-in-law Michell Snow, niece Risa Lallatin, Jay Lallatin and grand nephews Nathan and Jacob Lallatin.
