Reverend Dr. Mary Ellanor Gaines, age 85, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023, at The Wesleyan in Georgetown, Texas.
She struggled with Parkinson’s Disease and other health conditions for a long time. She joined her parents, William Eric and Nora Thelma (Flesher) Gaines and sister, Peggy Sue (Gaines) Boren in heaven. Mary was loved by her community, having contributed most of her life serving her church. She loved helping her church community. Mary also loved the arts, drawing, painting, pottery and reading books.
Mary is survived by niece Lisa D. Boren-Wilding (Terry); nephew Lynn Ray Boren (Touria); great nieces Cheyenna Wilding, Caldonia Wilding-Ogren (Bob); and great nephews Tyrel Wilding, Keanu Boren, and Denali Boren. Mary will be buried at San Marcos City Cemetery on October 21.
A memorial service with Reverend Bill Pederson, celebrating Mary’s life will be at San Gabriel Presbyterian Church in Georgetown at 3 p.m. on October 22, 2023. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Mo Ranch Youth Program Foundation.
