April 3 was a sad day. We had to say goodbye to our beloved husband, father, brother and friend, Werner Roman Hahn.

Werner passed away peacefully with Terrie, his wife of 47 years, and his two children, Allie and Michael, attending him. Werner, age 70, lost his long battle with cancer after a valiant fight.

Werner was an avid gardener and Do It Yourselfer. He loved tennis, darts, yoga and playing yard games, cards and board games with his family. He had been a Master Gardener and Master Naturalist in Bell County.

Werner was born in Goppingen, Germany, but moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with his parents, Erich and Liselotte when he was three. He grew up in the Shorewood area with his brother, Kurt. Werner graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, with a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and a Master’s degree in computer science. He was a computer programmer with IBM for many years, first in Rochester, Minnesota, and then, since 1980, in Austin.

Werner’s love for his family and friends and his quick wit and quirky sense of humor will be sorely missed.

Services will be held at Gabriels Funeral Home at 393 North Interstate 35, Georgetown. A gathering to remember Werner will be held at the Hahn home at 321 Logan Ranch Road, Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you give a donation in Werner’s name to ROCK, Ride On Center for Kids.
