Warlock Garage, a classic-car garage offering maintenance, repairs, restoration, interior work and diagnostic services, will open on 6504 West State Highway 29 on July 10.

Customers can expect more to be added to the service list in the future, specifically paint and body car restoration and motorcycle services.

An open-house-style grand opening will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 15, and customers will receive a discounted rate offered for the first 30-60 days of operation.

Round Rock residents Jonathan and Beth Mason are opening the garage to further their efforts as independent business owners.

Mr. Mason has 12 years of experience as a mechanic. He started working in the custom motorcycle industry and then joined the navy to become an aircraft mechanic. After he got out of the military, he became a certificate in automotive and motorcycle mechanics and started working on classic cars. This is what led to him opening up Warlock Garage.

“I wanted to represent being a wizard mechanic essentially,” Mr. Mason said. “So that’s where that name came from. It coincidentally worked out that Evil Weiner has similar imagery.”

Ms. Mason is a cook who was a head chef before the couple began operating the Evil Weiner food truck, two years ago. Evil Wiener was awarded The Best Hotdog in the South by Restaurant Guru in 2021.

The food truck sells gourmet hot dogs, burgers and fried chicken. Their most popular hot dog is called the Midnight Meat Train, which includes a quarter-pound hot dog, a quarter-pound of brisket and is loaded with slaw, jalapeño relish, crispy onions and a pickled okra on a bolillo roll.

The Evil Wiener was named by its former owner, Roger Zapata, a marine who wanted to put a spin on the “Devil Dog” nickname, which was given to American marines by Germans who perceived their fighting capabilities to be like those of the devil. The food truck sells t-shirts and other merchandise with phrases like “Feed the Demon, Eat the Wiener” as a nod toward the pride associated with being a Devil Dog pilot. The food truck’s merchandise will be sold at Warlock Garage and online.

The Evil Wiener Truck Wreck

The Evil Wiener came to an abrupt halt a month ago when the Masons’ food truck was totaled in an accident.

Mr. Mason said he was driving the 20,000-pound truck when it was struck by a car that had run a red light, causing it to do a complete 180. Luckily, Mr. Mason said he was the only one in the truck at the time and he walked away nearly unscathed.

The accident has, however, taken a toll on the Masons, as the food truck had been their only source of income.

“It was an emotional loss because of the history of that truck,” Mr. Mason said. “The previous owner had built it himself. He had raised his family in his truck going to jobs and we were doing the same thing.”

Before the accident, Evil Wiener had regular gigs at the Barking Armadillo Brewing on Riverbend Dr and at Rentsch Brewery on NE Inner Loop.

Despite not currently being in operation, the Evil Wiener brand will live on through its merchandise, which will be sold at the Warlock Garage in the meantime.

The Masons said they fully intend to establish the Evil Wiener in Williamson County again in some form. In six months to a year, Mr. Mason said the Evil Wiener will be operating again in some iteration, whether that be in a physical restaurant or in a new truck.

To help Evil Wiener reopen, customers can purchase the merch or donate to the Evil Wiener fundraiser on GoFundMe.com.
