Yesteryears: Georgetown officials conduct disaster exercise in 1976
September 9, 1976: Linda Rumbaugh of Salado is sworn in as Georgetown's first female police officer by Asst. City Manager W. L. Walden. A dispatcher for the Georgetown police department the past four years, 24-year-old Rumbaugh got her badge in a City Hall ceremony last week and began patrol duties immediately. She completed officer training with three other women last month at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos.
