Southwestern golf season begins September 8

The Southwestern women and men on the Pirate golf teams are prepping rapidly for the first match in a couple weeks. Yes, the fall collegiate season will debut shortly for coach Greg Sigler for the 2025-26 collegiate season.The season for the men begins September 8.

Refugio High School invites alumni to class reunion

Refugio High School’s classes of 1965-75 are reaching out to alumni who now live in Georgetown to participate in “Rewind the Times: The Bobcat Years,” a special multi-class reunion hosted by the Refugio ISD Education Foundation.The reunion takes place September 11–13.

Two park clean-up events will take place at San Gabriel Park on Tuesday, July 29, and Thursday, July 31, for those wanting to provide a helping hand. The event on July 29 will take place from 9-11 a.m. The July 31 event will be from 4-6 p.m.

After 82 years, a hero is coming home

Never is an incredibly strong word. Never is an infinitely long time. Yet, after 82 years, First Lieutenant Charles Woodruff McCook’s homecoming has only been delayed. Thanks to scientific minds and patriotic hearts, it will no longer be denied.Friends and family called him Woody.

August 6 is in line to be one of the cutest days of the year, as kittens will return to the Georgetown Public Library. Dozens of adoptable kittens will be available for $35 at the library in support of the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter.The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
