New nature preserve set to open in Jarrell this fall

Hill Country Conservancy is opening a nature preserve in northern Williamson County after an anonymous landowner donated 1,205 acres to the nonprofit.
Named the Pecan Springs Karst Preserve, the property is five miles west of Jarrell.

Harley’s Angels Sanctuary sets annual fundraiser for September

Harley’s Angels Sanctuary — a dog rescue based in Florence — is having its annual fundraiser from 2-6 p.m. September 23 at Mulligan’s Restaurant and Bar in Sun City. There will be a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction from 2 -5 p.m., as well as vendors selling holiday gifts, art and baked goods.

Williamson County Senior Director of Human Resources Rebecca Clemons gave multiple presentations July 25 to commissioner’s court about updates to the county employee policy manual, compensation and other items involving county employees. If approved, policies will go into effect on October 1.
