RED POPPY FESTIVAL
April 25-27
Georgetown is the Red Poppy Capital of Texas, with the European flower blooming throughout much of Old Town in the spring. The city hosts the annual Red Poppy Festival to highlight both the flower’s rarity and the Georgetown community at large, with local vendors, parades, family activities and concerts scheduled throughout the weekend. This year’s festival will take place April 25-27.
HANDS ON IN THE GARDEN
April 26, 9 a.m.
Hands On in the Garden is a free outdoor educational program at the demonstration garden at 3151 SE Inner Loop, Georgetown. This month’s presentation by Master Gardeners Jim Williams and Dale Hill will teach about soak cycle watering. Then, there are three breakout sessions: Master Gardener Tommy King is going to dig down with “Composting,” Master Gardener Jim Williams will clear the air with "All About Fertilizer" and Master Gardener Olena Duka is going to show how to spread the joy with “Gardening with Kids.” The breakout sessions will cycle so participants can attend all of them or just one or two.
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
April 26, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
St. David’s HealthCare, which provides care to more Central Texans than any other healthcare system, is partnering with the Leander Police Department and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration to provide a medication disposal site on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Participants can safely dispose of controlled and uncontrolled substances, over-the-counter medications, ointments, patches, creams, non-aerosol sprays, vials and pet medications. Used needles and other sharps will not be accepted. All accepted medications will be properly destroyed. Takes place at the Leander Medical Plaza, 505 St. David’s Loop, Leander. Holocaust Remembrance Day
April 27, 3-5 p.m.
In partnership with The Georgetown Public Library, Congregation Havurah Shalom of Sun City is hosting a free event to commemorate Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) on Sunday, April 27, from 3-5 p.m. The event is entitled “The Heroes of a Hidden Child: One Survivor’s Story of Gratitude” and features Lucy Taus Katz, a holocaust survivor herself who will engage attendees with the sharing of her story as a hidden child. Join as Lucy reflects on the selflessness of those who saved her and the profound lessons she carries forward. This presentation, tailored for all ages, shares a message that is both timeless and urgent in today’s world.
Wholeness Service
April 27, 6:30 p.m.
The Georgetown Ecumenical Healing and Wholeness service is based strictly on scripture, with meditation, candle lighting, communion, intercessory prayer, and easy to sing Taizé music, accompanied by skilled musicians. The Wholeness Service is hosted at San Gabriel Presbyterian Church, 5404 Williams Drive. The eighth service of the season is April 27, 6:30 p.m. A final service will take place May 25 at 6:30 p.m.
CASA Golf Outing
April 28, 9 a.m.
Join CASA at Berry Creek Country Club on April 28 for the most fun golf outing around. The 13th annual event raises funds to support CASA Wilco and gives participants the chance to hit the green for a day of fun, sun and games. Artsea Studio Come & Go Open House

Georgetown watercolor artist and instructor Kim Hoerster invites the public to a free Art Studio Open House to check out her studio at 915 Rockmoor Drive, Georgetown. If you’ve ever wanted to learn about drawing or watercolor painting, drop by to see what Artsea Studio has to offer. Tour the studio, ask questions and chat with Kim, and watch a current class of adult watercolor students.
The Worship Place memory presentation

National Day of Prayer

Celebrate the National Day of Prayer, May 1, in Georgetown. Disney on Ice

Disney on Ice will skate into Cedar Park’s H-E-B center May 1-4 with its new show, Let’s Dance! The show includes Disney favorites Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy, remixes to classic Disney tunes and stories from Frozen 2, Wish, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid and Moana. Our Lady of the Tortilla

Miracles, tortillas, and the Virgin Mary set the stage for Luis Santeiro’s comedy, Our Lady of the Tortilla. Directed by Felipe Garcia, Our Lady of the Tortilla tells the story of an intergenerational, Cuban family in the U.S. struggling with tradition, culture, language, love, and… each other. Fit & Fun Summer Activities Showcase
May 2, 5:30-7 p.m.
On Friday, May 2, from 5:30-7 p.m., the Carver Center for Families will be hosting a Fit & Fun Summer Activities Showcase at 1200 West 17th Street, Georgetown. This free, family-friendly event will include hot dogs, games, a petting zoo and opportunities for families to connect with local organizations offering no-cost and low-cost summer programs for children and youth.
First Friday Music on the Square
May 2, 6-8 p.m.
The Downtown Georgetown Association and Georgetown Beard Club host music on the Square the first Friday of the month from March through November. Enjoy performances while exploring the shops, restaurants and art around Georgetown’s downtown. Performances are held on the courthouse lawn. Admission is free, and guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets.
First Friday Ghost Tours

On the first Friday of the month from March-November, The Williamson Museum offers ghost tours around the Square. Learn about haunted and historic venues in downtown Georgetown. Grace Episcopal Church Spring Festival

Grace Episcopal Church in Georgetown — 1314 East University Avenue — will host its first-ever Spring Festival on May 3, celebrating more than 140 years of ministry in the community. The event, open to all ages, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will support both community outreach and parish activities. The festival will feature activities for children, including a petting zoo, face painting, a dunk tank and a bounce house. Food trucks will be on-site, offering lunch and snacks throughout the event. 18th Annual Car Show & Charity Benefit

Georgetown Texas Area Car Club will host their 18th Annual Car Show at the Sun City Social Center Parking Lot at 2 Texas Drive, Georgetown. More than 225 classic vehicles are expected at this event. This show provides scholarship funds for Georgetown and East View High School Seniors, who have successfully completed the Automotive Technology Program and have committed to continuing their formal education. For its fourth annual VFW Day of Service, Georgetown’s VFW Posts 8587’s Day of Service event will be a blood drive in partnership with We Are Blood on May 3. Resilience to Radiance Fundraiser

Georgetown Life Chain

Georgetown’s Texas Life Chain will take place on May 4 to pray and provide public witness “for the unborn to receive the greatest gift of all, the right-to-life.” The event will take place near the parking lot located at 2400 Williams Drive from 1:15-3:45 p.m. Attendees will stand or sit and pray for 90 minutes. San Gabriel Chorale

San Gabriel Chorale puts on a vibrant and rhythmic celebration of music with “St. Francis in the Americas: A Caribbean Mass” by Glenn McClure. The Williamson County A&M Foundation hosts its 30th annual fish fry to raise funds for its scholarship foundation to help local Williamson County students attend Texas A&M University.
