Average homeowner to see city taxes rise

Despite the property tax rate staying the same for the 2024 Fiscal Year, the average Georgetown homeowner can expect to pay approximately $125 more per month in taxes than last year.
The proposed tax rate for Fiscal Year 2024 is 37.40 cents per $100 valuation.

Georgetown Area Junior Forum helps community, gives away purses

The Georgetown Area Junior Forum will host the third annual Chicks for Charity Designer Purse Bingo to support charities and nonprofits in the area.
The event will be held October 10 from 6 to 9 p.m., doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

Williamson County commissioners approve September as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

The Williamson County Commissioners Court unanimously voted to designate September as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month during its September 12 meeting at the county courthouse.
According to a proclamation read to the court, 72 county residents died by suicide in 2021.

The 11th annual Cattleman’s Ball swings into life at the Sun City Ballroom September 23 at 5:30 p.m. This year’s honorees are publishers Clark Thurmond and Linda Scarbrough, who own The Williamson County Sun in Georgetown — an independent newspaper owned and operated by their family since 1948.
