As Georgetown grows, so too, does music scene

The sounds of Texas blues, country music, cover bands and rock n’ roll seep out of restaurants and bars in downtown Georgetown — like Barrel & Amps, Roots and Tejas Meat Supply — and street performers bring the Square to life each weekend.

Special event applications process to change

Applications for special events are being changed to create a more streamlined process for both applicants and Georgetown city staff. Discussed at the August 8 meeting, city staff presented the new procedures, fee structures and requested feedback from the council.

Georgetown discusses tax rate for 2024 budget

For Fiscal Year 2024, Georgetown city staff projects the city’s revenue will be $97.59 million, a 9.3 percent decrease from the city’s 2023 budget.  City Manager David Morgan gave an overview of the next fiscal year’s budget and received input and feedback from the council at a workshop August 8.

Elections Administrator Chris Davis resigned from Wilco

The Williamson County Election Commission accepted the resignation of Williamson County Elections Administrator Chris Davis effective immediately at the August 9 meeting. Starting at 9:30 in the morning, the commission entered into executive session for a private hearing for the employee.
