New mural installed in Taylor
Rachel Martin completed a new mural in Potter's Alley in Taylor. “Please come check it out and take photos with it. It’s my little love letter to Taylor, Texas, and the people who inspired the mural,” she said.
Ms. Martin has been a member of Taylor Public Arts since March 2021. She retired as the assistant dean, student affairs at the College of Fine Arts at the University of Texas-Austin and moved to Taylor in 2020.
WCAG meeting
The November presenter for the Williamson County Art Guild meeting is Nick Ramos, local artist, illustrator, curator and activist. He will be presenting “The Power of Art.”
The meet and greet starts at 6:15 p.m. and the meeting is from 6:30-8 p.m. The art challenge this month is to bring your artwork that has meaning to you. Perhaps it expressed something inside you, helped you process something or made a statement about something important to you.
Mr. Ramos pours passion into his art, inviting reflection and conversation, a means to try to bring more love into the world. His work in graphic design/illustration is around town at the Red Poppy Festivals, Georgetown Public Library WOW Mobile and Beaujolais Nights.
Also, he has spearheaded numerous projects — Build Hope Not Walls, Mailbox Project and More Love Less Guns — has curated shows and events — Georgetown Art Center’s Art Hop — and has spoken at conferences with the goal to bring people together and build a loving community.
The library is located at 402 West Eighth Street.
