Shirley Burress, age 94 of Moody, passed from this life May 1, 2024, at Hillside Nursing Home in Gatesville, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Lawler Baptist Church Cemetery in Florence, Texas.
Shirley was born on January 20, 1930, to Henry McLeod and Carrye Knight in Florence, Texas. She was an English and Music teacher. She was also a writer and published the book Two Rode Lonely.
Shirley is preceded by her husband, Tom Burress.
Survivors include sons, Kent Burress, and Jeff Burress; daughters, Camille Harding, Cindy Davis, and CaryeSu Reeder; and dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
