Construction Junction: Jarrell City Council approves grant-funded projects

 The City of Jarrell will use Williamson County block grants to fund two infrastructure projects. City council on December 3 accepted funds for the installation of a water line along County Road 305 and the reconstruction of Fifth Street with West Avenue A.

Williamson County celebrates shelter’s ‘no-kill’ status

Things are happening at the Williamson County Animal Shelter, and the hard work is paying off. Shelter Director Misty Valenta was selected to join the Best Friends Animal Society’s Network Strategy Council.

Tree of Angels

 This year, families and residents can remember and honor victims of crime and their families for two weeks in the Williamson County Courthouse.The Williamson County District Attorney’s Office will host the 12th annual Tree of Angels ceremony December 3.

Field day teaches students about geography tech

 Wolf Ranch Elementary fifth graders visited the Georgetown Community Center this month to learn about geography and the technologies used by local governments to collect field data and survey the Wilco landscape.

New Jarrell council member take oaths

Record turnout, no complaints

 About 69 percent of the 448,421 registered voters in Williamson County participated in the November 5 general election. Wilco set records for early voting, with an estimated 232,000 voters casting their ballots ahead of election day, according to Elections Administrator Bridgette Escobedo.

Williamson County intern levels up after Bar exam

One of the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office’s first interns has passed his bar exam. Christopher “Auggie” Alvarado was part of the county’s inaugural internship program, and is now a sworn member of the State Bar of Texas. A lifelong Williamson County resident, Mr.

Thanksgiving pies available to order

Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away. While some bakeries in the area — like Lulu’s Pie Shoppe on the Square — are already booked full for the holiday, there’s still some time to place a last-minute order for a traditional pie for your family’s dinner table.
