Jarrell ISD could set stage for May bond election

Jarrell ISD trustees are considering placing a $324.6 million bond package on the May 6 ballot, and they’ve set a meeting to hear community input.  The meeting will be held at 6 p.m., February 8, at the JISD Admin Annex, 508 North Fifth Street.

Wilco director to serve on Texas Juvenile Justice Board

Williamson County’s Scott Matthew was tapped by Governor Greg Abbott to chair the Texas Juvenile Justice Board.  A Georgetown resident, Mr. Matthew serves as the executive director and chief juvenile probation officer of Williamson County Juvenile Services.

Jarrell ISD studying four-day school week

As a strategy to improve teacher retention, Jarrell ISD is studying reducing the school week from five days to four.  JISD Communications Director Nick Spinetto said the four-day week concept in JISD is “exploratory” at this time and is being looked at as a way to keep teachers.
