Jail, Justice Center could move into new facilities by 2031

Williamson County is working to move the county jail and justice center operations away from downtown Georgetown by 2031. Located at 306 West Fourth Street in Georgetown, the current jail opened in 1989 and can hold more than 1,000 inmates.

The Jarrell Schwertner Water Supply Corporation issued a “Leak notice” to its customers and service providers on Wednesday, December 10. The Corporation serves 4,550 people and is based in Jarrell. The general service area is 80,000 acres, located in both Bell and Williamson Counties.

Jarrell strikes deal with Walmart

A Walmart Supercenter is set to come to Jarrell in the near future at the corner of Interstate 35 north, County Road 313 and County Road 312/FB Schwertner Road. City officials conditionally approved the zoning and preliminary plats and work during Jarrell’s December 2 City Council meeting.

29-year-old receives double sentence for child sexual assault

A Williamson County jury found 29-year-old Javier Garcia of Georgetown guilty of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact on November 19.
