Two weeks ago, a group of families took their seats in the pews of Williamson County’s commissioners courtroom in downtown Georgetown.

Leander city manager leaves for Nacogdoches

City Manager Rick Beverlin, who has served as Leander’s city manager since 2019,  resigned from the position Tuesday after taking a job to serve as city manager for the City of Nacogdoches.

Williamson County recognizes employees of the year

Williamson County Commissioners Court recognized its employees of the year and project team of the year for 2023 during the August 22 meeting. The award recipients were selected by a committee with 29 nominations over five categories.

Wilco Commissioners Court approves proposed 2024 budget

Williamson County Commissioners on August 22 unanimously approved the proposed budget for the 2024 Fiscal Year on first reading and will vote on the finalized budget and tax rate during their next meeting.  The proposed expenditures to the general fund amount for FY 2024 totals $313.4 million.

Cedar Park wildfire extinguished

The City of Cedar Park reported in their biweekly newsletter that the Parmer Lane wildfire is 100 percent contained, as of Thursday, August 10.  The fire burned 37 acres over the two-day period. Building 10 at Bexley at Silverado Apartments was completely burnt down.

Fin-tastic Leander burger house serves quality food, support community

Nestled in the Cold Springs shopping center off of Ronald Reagan Boulevard in Leander, Sharks Burger works to accommodate the lunch rush.  Owner Diego Bullara makes his rounds, going table to table, striking up conversations with his customers.

Elections Administrator Chris Davis resigned from Wilco

The Williamson County Election Commission accepted the resignation of Williamson County Elections Administrator Chris Davis effective immediately at the August 9 meeting. Starting at 9:30 in the morning, the commission entered into executive session for a private hearing for the employee.

Williamson County hears proposed FY 2024 budget, new tax rates

The Williamson County Commissioners Court heard the proposed budget for the 2024 fiscal year.  The total budget for the county is $542,553,014. The commissioner's court set the voter-approved tax rate at $0.379282 per $100 valuation.
