The history of Juneteenth in Georgetown goes back to the late 1800s.
For the second year in a row, the Georgetown Public Library has put up a display showcasing the history of Juneteenth and Black culture in Georgetown.
“[The display] highlights a part of the history of Georgetown that people don’t know about,” Librarian Anne Evans said. “It has existed for a long time, it’s not something new, it is rooted in the community.”
