Williamson County intern levels up after Bar exam

DA’s office’s Inaugural internship program a success

One of the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office’s first interns has passed his bar exam.

Christopher “Auggie” Alvarado was part of the county’s inaugural internship program, and is now a sworn member of the State Bar of Texas. A lifelong Williamson County resident, Mr. Alvarado began his four-month internship this summer.

“I can now say this opportunity has been the greatest blessing after law school, because it has allowed me — during the formative years of my career — to see and learn from attorneys that work tirelessly for the good of society while respecting the integrity of the law,” he said. “I have grown deeply fond of this office and will forever be grateful for the lasting impression everyone in the DA's office has made on me as a person and practitioner.”

He is a Stony Point High School alumni, and graduated the University of Texas at Austin in 2020, where he studied pre-med. He earned his law degree from St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio in May 2024. During his time at St. Mary’s, Mr. Alvarado served as a staff writer and articles editor for the St. Mary's Law Journal.

In October, Judge Sarah Bruchmiller — with the 368th Judicial District Court — administered the oath of office, officially welcoming Mr. Alvarado as an assistant district attorney.

“It was my honor to swear in Mr. Alvarado as he begins a rewarding and impactful career in public service,” Judge Bruchmiller said.

Through an internship with U.S. District Court Judge Orlando Garcia in the Western District of Texas, Mr. Alvarado has accepted a full-time clerkship with Judge Garcia starting in January 2025. As for his future career plans, he intends to return to prosecutorial work at a county attorney's office within the state of Texas.

"I am very proud of Auggie as he has been a tremendous help to our office while embracing his role as a true public servant. I am thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to aspiring prosecutors,” Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick said. “I believe that by investing in these young talents, we’re investing in the future of our justice system."

The District Attorney’s Office internship program offers law students and recent graduates hands-on experience and networking opportunities with prosecutors and judges. Interns contribute to real-world legal matters, according to the county.
