Bakery serves crisp, chewy cookies

Cookie lovers now have one more option to explore in Georgetown. Crisp & Chew cookie bakery will open a retail pickup shop at 1612 Williams Drive, northwest of Rivery Boulevard.

Georgetown City Council granted a rezoning request for the project in October. The home bakery was founded by Georgetown couple Sarah Davis-Ware — a chief operating officer of an investor relations firm — and Qudduws Ware, a music producer.

When they moved from New Jersey to Georgetown, Mr. Ware said that he couldn’t find his favorite oatmeal cookies anywhere. His wife came up with a solution.

“I was like, hold on, wait a minute. Let me go in the kitchen and see what I can come up with,” Ms. Davis-Ware remembered. She figured out the perfect recipe for an oatmeal cookie that was soft on the inside but crispy on the outside, she said. They started giving them away as gifts, and the cookies were so popular that people told her to start selling them.

Crisp & Chew began selling cookies at the Wolf Ranch Farmers Market in July 2024. The couple then branched out to sell cookies at other bakeries around Georgetown, and delivered cookies through online orders. Ms. Davis-Ware said she is excited to be expanding the business by opening up their own retail space.

Crisp & Chew offers more than a dozen varieties of oatmeal cookies, including blueberry pancake, bourbon caramel chocolate pretzel, caramel apple, cookie butter, lemon raspberry, chocolate chip and special holiday flavors.
