The booming 1980s Central Texas economy, Georgetown’s proximity to Austin, intact historic structures on the Square and peer pressure to renovate buildings contributed to making the city’s Main Street Program a success over the past 42 years, said Linda McCalla, a Georgetown interior designer and former Main Street Project Manager.
