Veterans and patriots join to celebrate American independence

Women Veterans of Georgetown member and Sun employee Jessica Ohle read the final part of the Declaration of Independence to the crowd. The event took about 20 minutes, wrapping up around 5:20 p.m. on July 8.
One of the flags on display at the event highlighted the 13 original colonies with the amount of stars and the year of American independence 1776.
As a part of the 250th celebration of American Independence, a reading of the Declaration of Independence took place in Georgetown, across the U.S. and the world on July 8 – exactly 250 years after the declaration was read in Philadelphia.
