Republican Rupal Chaudhari launches candidacy for County Commissioner
Republican Rupal Chaudhari has announced her candidacy for Williamson County commissioner in Precinct 2. Republican Cynthia Long, who has served since 2007, currently holds the seat.
“Service to others is not something I have ever embarked on lightly,” Ms. Chaudhari said. “We need elected officials with the people, not over the people. We need a government that listens, not pretends to be deaf.”
A grassroots conservative activist, Ms. Chaudhari drew public attention for opposing the City of Austin's attempt to convert a Williamson County hotel into a homeless shelter. According to a news release from her campaign office, she advocated for increased transparency and stronger public safety measures, including additional support for law enforcement.
“My promise is simple,” she said. “I will fully support and empower our first responders, defend our courts and judges, and invest in infrastructure that actually works.”
An attorney, entrepreneur and mother of two, Ms. Chaudhari holds degrees in accounting and economics, along with a Master of Law from St. Mary’s University.
In 2023, Governor Greg Abbott appointed her to the Texas Emergency Services Retirement System Board, where she helps oversee pension funds for volunteer first responders across the state.
Ms. Chaudhari also co-founded Family Bridge, a nonprofit launched in 2024 that provides temporary housing for families with children. The organization does not receive taxpayer funding and promotes private-sector, community-driven approaches to social issues.
She also volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in the foster care system.
“Conservative servant leadership is making a comeback,” Ms.Chaudhari said. “Let’s get to work.”
