Gas leak shuts down Morrow Street for two days

A gas leak was detected Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of North Austin Avenue and Morrow Street in Georgetown, shutting down a section of the road through Friday evening.

The Georgetown Fire Department first reported the leak Wednesday. Morrow Street was closed on both sides of Austin Avenue as Atmos Energy repaired the gas line.

The department reported the leak had been repaired Thursday night. Georgetown Public Works was scheduled to make a temporary asphalt repair on the section of roadway and sidewalk impacted by the leak Friday, after time of press.
