St. David’s recognized for health safety
St. David’s Georgetown Hospital received an “A” grade by the Leapfrog Group as part of its fall Hospital Safety Grades.
St. David's HealthCare is the only hospital system to receive an “A” for all eligible facilities in the Austin area, according to the press release.
The grade notes that the Georgetown hospital, located at 2000 Scenic Drive, received the highest grade for its performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents and infections among patients.
“St. David’s HealthCare is committed to an evidence- based practice that continuously enhances patient care and outcomes,” said Ken Mitchell, M.D., chief medical officer of St. David’s HealthCare. “Our nurses, physicians and staff continue to draw from clinical expertise, the latest research and evolving patient needs to advance the services we provide. Their hard work is reflected in these safety grades and our mission to provide exceptional care to every patient. To achieve this distinction despite the challenges of the pandemic is remarkable and I applaud our caregivers and hospital leaders.”
Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit, designates these awards every six months in recognition of hospitals’ efforts to protect patients from harm and provide safer healthcare.
There are eight St. David’s HealthCare facilities in Texas, including the Georgetown location. The organization has also been recognized with a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award — the nation’s highest presidential honor for performance excellence. St. David’s HealthCare is the fourth-largest private employer in the area.
