A Pulitzer Prize winning author Lawrence Wright discussed his 2023 novel Mr. Texas on November 14 as part of the Georgetown Public Library’s Hill Country Author Series. Mr. Wright currently lives in Austin and is a staff writer for the New Yorker.

Drunk driver gets 40 years for manslaughter of Elgin couple

Taylor resident John Crayton, Jr. was convicted of intoxication manslaughter on November 14 and sentenced to 40 years in prison. Charges stem from a vehicular wreck that killed Elgin couple Leonora Soriano and Christopher “Ali” Vassef in 2022.

Short-term rental owners must register with city

Georgetown’s preliminary short-term rental program went live on November 19. The program was approved by Georgetown City Council in September and required rental owners to register with the city and pay hotel occupancy taxes for bookings.
