Cotton Country Club celebrates 25 years of dancing

 Cotton Country Club dancehall and restaurant in Granger is celebrating their 25 anniversary this year. The club was originally founded by Bubba Cox in 1999, and after a few changes in ownership, was most recently purchased in 2022 by Emily and Chris Hamilton.

Cool down at Jeremiah’s Italian Ice

Jeremiah’s Italian Ice has brought its signature cold treats and soft serve ice cream to Georgetown, and opened a new location at West University Avenue on August 20. “I thought Georgetown was the perfect place to open a [Jeremiah’s Italian Ice.]” Franchisee Allison Stubbs said.

Camp Briteside opens, draws crowd in Northwest Georgetown

Camp Briteside —  a new restaurant, bar and outdoor space located on 8701 Ranch Road 2338 — held a grand opening Sunday, September 1. According to owner Cody Hirt, about 650 people visited for the opening event. At 3 p.m., usually a slow time for restaurants, Camp Briteside was on a two hour wait.

Georgetown budget, tax rate set on first reading

Georgetown will have a $842.6 million budget for the upcoming fiscal year, and will operate with a property tax rate of 36.47 cents per $100 assessed valuation. Both numbers were approved by city council on first reading Tuesday, August 27.

Sales tax revenue skyrockets in Liberty Hill

The August 2024 sales tax revenue report by the Texas Comptroller revealed that revenue in Liberty Hill skyrocketed, increasing by 62.52 percent since August 2023. Meanwhile, sales tax revenue in Taylor plummeted, bringing in a mere 41 percent less when compared to the year prior.
