Ordinance adopting 2024 budget approved

The Georgetown City Council adopted an $868 million budget for Fiscal Year 2024 on first reading August 22. A second and final vote is scheduled for September 12, where the tax rate will also be heard and adopted formally.  The 2023-24 budget anticipates $97.59 million in revenue, a 9.

City council reviews pedestrian bridge designs for Austin Avenue bridge

The Georgetown City Council was presented with the three final bridge design ideas for the Austin Avenue pedestrian bridge that will help connect downtown to other parts of the city and enhance the San Gabriel River greenbelt areas.

Senior Rodeo

The Texas Senior Pro Rodeo Association's rodeo was held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Williamson County Expo Center. The rodeo was founded in 1978 and conducts rodeos from March through October each year.  The events are open to anyone at least 40-years-old.

Bandy Jewelers: A hidden gem just off the Georgetown Square

Tucked between Coreena’s Bridal Boutique and The Co-Op building on West Eighth Street in Georgetown is Bandy Jewelers, a destination jewelry store in an old shotgun house. Bandy Jewelry sells second-hand jewelry and offers repairs, custom jewelry services and battery replacements.

Leander city manager leaves for Nacogdoches

Williamson County recognizes employees of the year

Williamson County Commissioners Court recognized its employees of the year and project team of the year for 2023 during the August 22 meeting. The award recipients were selected by a committee with 29 nominations over five categories.

Wilco Commissioners Court approves proposed 2024 budget

Williamson County Commissioners on August 22 unanimously approved the proposed budget for the 2024 Fiscal Year on first reading and will vote on the finalized budget and tax rate during their next meeting.  The proposed expenditures to the general fund amount for FY 2024 totals $313.4 million.

Fertilizer Plant in Bartlett destroyed in fire

The American Plant Food Corporation fertilizer facility — located at 9901 State Highway 95 in Bartlett — caught fire because of a chemical spill Sunday, August 20, at 9:38 p.m.
