Williamson County Commissioners Court considers grant-funded positions

Williamson County Commissioners discussed three different grant-funded county staff positions June 27. Commissioners had a July 1 budget deadline to decide to keep the positions as grant funded, to add them to the county budget or remove the positions.

The Georgetown Project finds teens summer internships through youth employment program

Twenty-one Georgetown high school students are participating in summer internships this year through The Georgetown Project’s Summer Youth Employment Program, the most students placed in the program’s history.

Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter certified as a no-kill shelter

Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter maintained a no-kill status in 2022, according to Best Friends Animal Society’s 2022 data report.  In order for a shelter to get a no-kill status, the shelter must have a 90 percent save rate for cats and dogs.

Parts of Interstate 35 to close in Georgetown as part of Williams Drive improvements

The northbound lanes on Interstate 35 will be closed on July 6 to set beams on the Williams Drive bridge. The closures will take place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and are located between State Highway 29 and Northwest Boulevard. Traffic will detour onto the frontage road at Williams Drive, exit 262.

All Care Therapies Georgetown, formerly located on Texas 195, has built a new 8,500 square-foot therapy facility at 3610 Williams Drive.  All Care opened in 2014, started by speech therapist Julie Creswell, occupational therapist Jenna Coe and physical therapist Tiffany Gmiter.
