Georgetown city pools opening on Memorial Day

Georgetown public pools will open for the summer season on Memorial Day weekend. The Recreation Center outdoor, Williams Drive, River Ridge and Village pools open Saturday, May 27. However, the Recreation Pool will close May 28-29, while the River Ridge Pool will close Monday, May 29.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott will come to Sun City as a special guest speaker at the community’s annual Memorial Day ceremony. This year’s event begins at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 29, at the Georgetown-Williamson County Veterans Memorial Plaza, 2 Texas Drive.

ELECTION FINAL: Incumbents win in Georgetown, GISD races

Josh Schroeder will remain Georgetown’s mayor, and Stephanie Blanck will continue serving as Georgetown ISD’s Place 4 representative after winning their respective races during the May 6 election.  In the Georgetown mayoral race, Mr. Schroeder received a total of 5,340 votes, or 85.

For residents who missed early voting, election day for Williamson County joint general and special elections is Saturday, May 6. Georgetown residents can vote in the city’s mayoral election, with incumbent Mayor Josh Schroeder facing challenger Jonathan Dade.
