Georgetown ISD has named Amanda Johnson as its new director for human resources.
Ms. Johnson has 21 years of public education experience, most recently as the director of support staff and employee relations in Round Rock ISD. She has also been a classroom teacher and campus administrator.

City briefs: Georgetown library sets holiday hours, new Recreation Center rates

The Georgetown Public Library is adjusting its hours for the last two weeks of December.
“We have shortened hours the last two weeks of the month to accommodate the holiday season,” the library wrote in a press release.
Shortened hours begin December 19 and are as follows:
9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Williamson County buildings add Narcan to medical kits

Buildings operated by Williamson County received 63 boxes of Narcan in November as a life-saving measure for potential future overdose victims.
Narcan is an emergency drug used to treat opioid overdoses.
According to the county, Narcan is administered as a nasal spray.

High interest rates slow Georgetown ISD enrollment growth, area home sales

Home interest rates have doubled from spring to fall, slowing both new home sales and projected district enrollment growth, according to Georgetown ISD’s most recent demographer’s report.

School Notes: Jarrell ISD seeking input on elementary attendance zone changes

Jarrell ISD is asking for input on proposed new elementary attendance zones. The district will open its third elementary school — Double Creek — in fall 2023.
JISD’s Attendance Zone Committee has developed parameters based on enrollment numbers, safety and other factors.
