Winter event guide: Holiday fun is around the corner

Thanksgiving this Thursday, November 27, kicks off the holiday season, and the Georgetown area has a plethora of winter activities scheduled for the next month for adults and children alike.

Sun City deer culling vote paused due to litigation

A vote by the Sun City Board of Directors — which was supposed to take place on November 20 to determine whether or not to cull the deer in the neighborhood — was delayed because of a lawsuit filed on November 13 against the development’s Community Association and Texas Parks and Wildlife.

‘Our future is very bright’

Florence Mayor Ben Daniel used a photo of a rainbow over the city’s downtown as a visual depiction of the city’s future during the community’s first-ever State of the City address. “What is the state of the city of Florence? Very, very hopeful,” he said Friday, November 14.

Flood assistance deadline draws near

New venue hopes to be The Junction between Georgetown, Round Rock

Construction on a new South Georgetown food, drink and entertainment venue called The Junction is now underway. Officials broke ground on The Junction — at 210 Blue Springs Boulevard —- on Thursday, November 13, with a goal to open this summer.

One more opportunity to give in 2025

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving that takes place the Tuesday immediately after Thanksgiving. The effort serves as many nonprofit organization’s last push to raise funds for the year, and one last time to make a tax-deductible donation before the year’s end.
