Residents witness inner workings of JP system

There are many different facets of government. From the state legislature to city council meetings, even the most informed resident can learn something new. That’s why Justice of the Peace Judge Evelyn McLean of Precinct 3 began the “Judge for a Day” shadowing program August 5-6.

Yes, the brick color changed on the downtown parking garage

Georgetown’s downtown parking garage inches closer to completion, and this month the exterior brick is being installed. The brick appears darker than what was displayed in planning renderings approved by the city.

Florence ISD opens new elementary school

Decked out in purple and white, the Florence ISD community — as well as members of the chamber of commerce, American Legion and city staff — gathered around to see the district’s highly anticipated new elementary school for the first time, July 30.

Georgetown teen Elle Townley nominated for Texas Country Music Award

Sixteen-year-old Elle Townley has been nominated for the 2025 Young Artist of the Year award at the Texas County Music Awards. This is the third time she has been nominated, and she said she is hoping this year will be the year. “I have been singing ever since I could talk,” Elle said.

Kittens put best paw forward at the library

Even when you know it’s coming, a room full of kittens is an easy way to bring joy to the heart. From their tiny paws to their curious personalities, many families from around Georgetown were eager to add a fuzzy friend to their crew.

Williamson County budget could go up by 5.6% this year

With track record of success, iTumble Gymnastics plans to expand

Jarrell-based iTumble Gymnastics has been cartwheeling, flipping, and jumping toward their goal of opening a new facility for the past eight years. Owner Jake Clear said he hopes the planned 20,000-square-foot facility is now only two years away.
