24 hour roadside assistance now offered on I-35
The Texas Department of Transportation has expanded its Highway Emergency Response Operator, which is now available to motorists 24 hours a day Monday-Friday on Interstate 35 and State Highway 45 North.
The HERO patrol program assists stranded motorists who need help with fuel, water, oil or air in their vehicle. HERO patrol technicians also assist with tire changes and jumpstarts, as well as clearing debris from roadways.
“Going to 24 hour services will provide peace of mind to stranded motorists and improve safety along this busy corridor,” Austin District Engineer Tucker Ferguson said.
The HERO program is available for free to motorists. The annual $6.3 million cost for the program is shared between TxDOT and the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization.
