Human remains discovered in South Wilco field

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday evening responded to a call from a field off Toll Road 45 and Mopac, where a worker discovered skeletal human remains.

According to the sheriff ’s office, detectives responded and confirmed the remains are human. Criminal Investigations Commander John Foster said there were no apparent signs of criminal activity.

The cause of death is unknown, as is the identity of the deceased person. Mr. Foster said the remains had been in the field for an extended period of time.

Detectives worked in the area through the day Wednesday and the remains were sent to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office for further processing. — Nicholas Cicale
