Horses and Halloween in Garey Park

Horse lovers can shake up their Halloween with a costume trail ride in Garey Park October 29.

Jodi Brassard, owner of Brassard Equine, has led a dress-up trail ride the past three years, usually hosted at Granger Lake. This year, the group will wind through the six-mile trail at Garey Park.

The gathering started as a group of 15 of Ms. Brassard’s clients, but has expanded to sometimes 40 people and their horses. It is open to everyone.

“It’s an opportunity for everyone to dress up and have fun,” she said. “Everyone knows and loves Georgetown and Garey Park. It’s just a good time.”

Participants should come decked out with their horses to the ride. There will be a prize for best costume.

The trail ride is open to all-level of riders. Kids are welcome. Garey Park has an area to trailer in horses and an equine obstacle course for anyone wishing to try out their skills after the ride. Participating is free, other than the entrance fee to Garey Park.

The ride begins at 10 a.m., October 29, in Garey Park, 6450 Ranch to Market Road 2243. — Kate St. Clair
