roundabout@wilcosun.com South Main Arts Festival October 22 The inaugural South Main Arts Festival will include booths from juried artists, a yarn bomb installation, food trucks, an outdoor theatrical performance, ribbon dancers and more. Booths open early, but live musical begins at 5 p.m., with music by Texas Commission on the Arts Touring Roster Artist Sue Foley. Williamson County Fair and Rodeo October 26-29 This year’s Williamson County Fair and Rodeo begins Wednesday, October 26, and runs through Saturday evening at the Wilco Expo Center in Taylor. In addition to carnival rides and activities, the fair offers live music and entertainment, a Corkyard with beer and wines, food trucks and vendors, as well as booths featuring local artisans, shops and groups. Plus, the rodeo will include traditional events such as swine races, mutton busting and official Cowboys Professional Rodeo Association and the United Professional Rodeo Association competitions. Gates open at 4 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, and 10 a.m. Saturday. The Wilco Expo Center is located at 5350 Bill Pickett Trail, Taylor. Fair admission is free on the opening evening, although carnival ride tickets are still required. Other ticket options range from $12-$22 and can be purchased online. www.wilcofair.com Field of Honor November 5-12 The sixth-annual Field of Honor sponsored by the Rotary Club of Georgetown is scheduled for November 5-12. The display featuring more than 1,000 American flags can be found at San Gabriel Park. Through the Field of Honor, the Rotary Club sells memorial flags, with proceeds distributed to selected beneficiary organizations during the first quarter of the following year. New this year will be the Tunnel to Towers, 9/11 “Never Forget” Mobile Exhibit. Tours of the three-room exhibit will be provided by five Fire Department of the City of New volunteers that personally experienced 9/11. A Veteran’s Day program is also set for November 11. https://georgetowntxfieldofhonor.org Sun City Veterans Day Ceremony November 11 Sun City’s annual Veteran’s Day program will be held at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Plaza, 2 Texas Drive, Georgetown. Costumed, docent-led tours leave the museum at 7:30 p.m. and last one hour. “Ghost Hunting” tours with heightened stories, imagery and interactive Ghost Hunting leave at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. for an experience that lasts about an hour and a half. Tickets are $20 per person, and $15 for museum members and students. Buy tickets early, as space is limited. Tours run October 1, October 8, October 21, October 22 and October 28. Tours are subject to cancellation because of severe weather. First United Methodist Pumpkin Patch Through October First United Methodist Church of Georgetown’s giant annual pumpkin patch is scheduled to open October 12 this year and runs through the end of the month. The pumpkin patch is typically open Monday- Friday from 1-7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. A Movie at the Patch night is set for October 14 from 6-9 p.m. and the church’s Trunk or Treat evening is October 30 from 4-6 p.m. More information can be found at www.fumcgt.org Sweet Eats Fall Festival Through November 20 Just east of Georgetown, Sweet Eats Fruit Farm offers an outdoor, fall-themed area to enjoy this season. The fall festival began September 10 and includes a 4.5 acre safari- themed corn maze paired with a pumpkin patch — filled with over 40 different varieties of pumpkins — as well as fireworks (Friday and Saturday nights in October), pig races, a petting zoo, pony rides, wagon rides, apple cannons, food trucks and live music. Over 30 different activities are included with a general admission ticket.
Brown Santa Trunk or Treat October 22 Halloween comes early this year for the sheriff’s office. The second annual trunk or treat event takes place from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. October 22 at the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office on Rock Street in Georgetown, with proceeds benefiting the Brown Santa nonprofit program.
Adults with Disabilities Halloween Dance October 28 The City of Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a free Halloween-themed dance for adults with disabilities from 7-9 p.m., October 28, at the Georgetown Community Center, 445 East Morrow Street. According to the city, the event is designed for people age 18 and older with special needs. A family member and/or caregiver must be present at all times. Volunteers wishing to help with the concession stand, photo booth and greeting attendees can sign up at parks. georgetown.org/volunteer. Spirits with Spirits October 29 The Williamson Museum will host an interactive ghost tour with signature cocktails starting at 7 p.m. Tour the museum and Square looking for signs of paranormal activity. Ghost-hunting equipment will be provided. Tickets are $30 for members or $35 for non members and include drinks, light snacks and a tour.
Ha-Ha-Halloween October 29 Barking Armadillo Brewing will host a comedy show and costume party October 29 at 7 p.m. Admission is $20 and includes a free beer. The brewery is located at 507 Riverbend Drive, Georgetown.
Halloween Donkey Photo Shoot October 29, 9 a.m.
There will be a Halloween-themed photo shoot from 9-11 a.m. at the Barn in Berry Springs Park and Preserve October 29. Get your picture taken with Lil Bob and Pedro. Daughters of the Republic of Texas will be there for a presentation on the founding families and soldiers of Texas and there will be activities for the kids.
