Honor vets with Sun City November 11
Sun City will again celebrate military service members during its annual Veterans Day Ceremony.
The event begins at 11 a.m., November 11, at the Georgetown-Williamson County Veterans Memorial Plaza, 2 Texas Drive. Attendance is free and open to the public.
“This special day will honor all the veterans who have served in our military forces and the men and women who are serving today,” Sun City stated in a press release.
GuestspeakerJuanAmaya, Jr., Williamson County veterans services director, will present during the event, which also features patriotic music and service recognitions. Seating for up to 700 attendees will be provided. People are also invited to bring their own folding chairs if they wish.
After the ceremony, the Sun City Community Association will serve refreshments at the city’s Social Center patio for a reception.
Parking is available at the Social Center and at the Activities Center located across the street at 1 Texas Drive. The event will be moved to the Social Center Ballroom in the case of rain.
The Veterans Memorial Plaza in Sun City is a community space meant to recognize and honor men and women who have and are serving in the U.S. military. It features bricks engraved with the names of individuals and military units. Annual events hosted at the site include the Memorial Day, Patriot Day and Veterans Day ceremonies.
