Carl Doering one of 10 recognized at veterans ceremony in Killeen

The Congressional Veteran Commendation Board honored 10 recipients of the 2022 Commendation award at an event on October 15 hosted by U.S. Representative John Carter.

The ceremony, held in Killeen, recognized the wartime sacrifices and peacetime community involvement of residents of the 31st Congressional District of Texas.

One of the recipients was Staff Sergeant Carl Doering, who served as Georgetown's mayor from 1984-1986 and also spent time on the Georgetown ISD school board, as the director of the chamber of commerce, the chairman of the Georgetown Housing Authority and on the city’s parks and recreation board.

After the posting of the colors, Representative Carter made opening remarks, followed by a keynote address by Major General Christopher G. Beck.

The 10 recipients were:
