Youth mentoring ‘just a conversation,’ mentor recruiter says

Thirty minutes once a week — that’s all it takes to tell a child “They’re worth something.”

That’s the message of Tom Wharton, a champion for youth mentoring and a volunteer mentor through Georgetown ISD.

“Kids are so thankful to have somebody.” he said, “There’s no substitute for one-on-one attention.”
