Field of Honor Through November 12
The sixth-annual Field of Honor sponsored by the Rotary Club of Georgetown is scheduled for November 5-12. The display featuring more than 1,000 American flags can be found at San Gabriel Park. Through the Field of Honor, the Rotary Club sells memorial flags, with proceeds distributed to selected beneficiary organizations during the first quarter of the following year. New this year will be the Tunnel to Towers, 9/11 “Never Forget” Mobile Exhibit. Tours of the three-room exhibit will be provided by five Fire Department of the City of New volunteers that personally experienced 9/11. A Veteran’s Day program is also set for November 11. https://georgetowntxfieldofhonor.org Sun City Veterans Day Ceremony November 11 Sun City’s annual Veteran’s Day program will be held at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Plaza, 2 Texas Drive, Georgetown. CID=4091813&src=&NS=PUBLIC Sweet Eats Fall Festival Through November 20 Just east of Georgetown, Sweet Eats Fruit Farm offers an outdoor, fall-themed area to enjoy this season. The fall festival began September 10 and includes a 4.5-acre safari-themed corn maze paired with a pumpkin patch — filled with over 40 different varieties of pumpkins — as well as fireworks (Friday and Saturday nights in October), pig races, a petting zoo, pony rides, wagon rides, apple cannons, food trucks and live music. Over 30 different activities are included with a general admission ticket.
Cabaret Through November 6 Set in 1929, just as the Nazi party is gaining political power throughout Germany and Europe, the musical follows the story of American writer Clifford Bradshaw and English cabaret singer Sally Bowles, as well as several others.
Audiences will watch as the fictional Kit Kat Klub comes to life before their eyes, inviting them to indulge in Berlin’s nightlife. With music and lyrics by Tony award winning artists John Kander and Fred Ebb, this heartfelt and haunting love story is bound to make its mark on audiences. Performances take place on the Springer Stage.
Champs' Choice at Barrels & Amps Through December 10 Barrels & Amps will showcase an interactive musical comedy Saturdays at 2 p.m. through December 10. The show, Champs' Choice, was written and directed by Round Rock resident Cassie Knoedl and features the characters of four students who are all running for class president of a strange school with an unhinged principal. The audience gets to experience a “choose your own adventure” performance in which they vote on everything from the costumes to what the characters gossip about, and eventually who wins the election. Seating is cabaret style, so the audience can order food and drinks while watching the show. Barrels & Amps is located at 718 South Austin Avenue.
The Red Velvet Cake War Through November 13 Written by comedy trio Jones, Hope and Wooten, this play follows the story of the Verdeen cousins as they throw a reunion for their rambunctious family. Performances are scheduled to take place at the Palace Playhouse.
Witch November 11-13, 18-20 A devil visits the small village of Edmonton, offering a select few people an opportunity to sell their souls in exchange for a wish. While some people are willing to sell their souls quickly, Elizabeth, the town outcast and “witch,” has a few more reservations. This dark comedy, inspired by the 1621 play The Witch of Edmonton, weighs the odds between happiness and self-worth in a world that seems void of hope. This is a Southwestern University production at the Jesse H. and Mary Gibbs Jones Theater.
Patriotic Pops concert November 13 This year, the Central Texas Philharmonic and the Field of Honor will again collaborate to present a concert of patriotic tunes at the Klett Performing Arts Center at Georgetown High School. www.centraltexasphilharmonic.org Austin Jazz Society concert November 13 The Austin Jazz Society November 13 features the Peggy Stern Trio, with Peggy Stern on piano, Joey Colarusso on saxophone and Ryan Hagler on bass at 2 p.m., November 13, at Georgetown First Presbyterian Church, 703 South Church Street. Tickets are $15 for individuals, $25 for families and free to students. Tickets are available at the door or online at www.austinjazzsociety.org.
Zion Lutheran Church Wurstbraten November 6-7 Celebrate Zion Lutheran Church and School’s 50th Wurstbraten sausage sale and supper November 6-7. Sausage will be sold by the pound on Sunday, November 6, from 2-4 p.m. Then, supper will be served Monday, November 7, from 4-7 p.m. Supper includes sausage, sweet potatoes, green beans, bread, sauerkraut and pickles, and to-go plates are available for $15, cash or check only. The church sells about 4,500 meals per year through the fundraising event, with 10 percent of proceeds going to local nonprofits. The church is located at 6001 Farm to Market 1105 near Walburg.
