Jeanne Shinkle McCormick

Jeanne Shinkle McCormick, surrounded by her family, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023, at her home in Georgetown, Texas, after a prolonged illness.

Jeanne was born in Huntington, West Virginia, on July 22, 1936, to Helen (Aldridge) and Jack Shinkle.  She met her husband of 46 years, Neal, while playing in a bowling league in Austin.  Jeanne spent most of her working life as a well-respected histotechnologist, and later as a realtor. She was funny and kind and made friends wherever she went. She never met a stranger. Within minutes of meeting someone, she could tell you where they lived and the names of their pets. When she could, she loved traveling with her family;  two of her favorite places were Lake Tahoe and Riudoso, NM. Jeanne also loved her pets. It brings us joy to know she will be reunited with all the furry friends she loved along the way.

She is survived by her husband, Neal Bode McCormick, her sister, Katherine (Shinkle) Lober and husband, Steve; her son, William R. Engvall and wife, Gail; her daughters, Judy Engvall and Jennifer Jackson and husband, Rick; her grandchildren, Emily Holden, Travis Engvall, Justin Jackson, Mackenzie Gardiner, Sarah Jackson, and Annie McTigue. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Engvall McTigue, her brother, Jack Shinkle, and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Georgetown, Texas, Animal Shelter.
