Jarrell American Legion gets first female commander

    Joe Kott American Legion Post 317 elected Mary Semek as the group’s new commander in July. She is the first woman to serve in that position for the group. 

    Commander Semek is an army veteran who lives in Jarrell. She completed her basic training at Fort Ord, California. Then, she did her advanced individual training at Fort McClellan, Alabama. Finally, she was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, …
