Connecticut-based hamburger franchise Wayback Burgers held a grand opening and ribbon cutting for their newest location in Cedar Park.
Festivities for the grand opening began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The restaurant joined the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce after the ceremony on Tuesday, February 13.
Location owner Francisco González said the event was great. An estimated 50 people from the City of Cedar Park and the chamber showed up and enjoyed free burgers.
“I was really happy to come to Cedar Park, you know?” Mr. González said. “I have found a really nice community and great people that I have met here. It was much better than what I was expecting.”
Since 2018, Wayback Burgers has served as a partner of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, having raised over $1 million to date by donating a portion of the proceeds made for every burger and sandwich sold.
At the grand opening on Saturday, the Cedar Park location donated $2,500 to members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Texas. Mr. González said the company tries to make the community better.
“Even though I am a franchise, I’m trying to get along and get involved with the community and try to help them in any way that I can,” he said. “And Wayback is all about that.”
Founded in 1991 in Newark, Delaware, the fast-casual franchise is known for making made-to-order burgers and thick, hand-dipped milkshakes.
Wayback Burgers operates in 35 states with over 170 locations nationally and internationally in Brunei, Ireland, South Africa, Japan and seven provinces in Canada.
In Williamson County, other Wayback locations include Round Rock and Leander. The Cedar Park location is open from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on 406 West Whitestone Boulevard.
