Williamson County commissioners could hire a program manager to head an effort to update and expand the county jail and justice center in downtown Georgetown. 

To accommodate expected population growth, the county aims to build a new jail that could hold 3,000 beds by 2050, according to an August presentation by Commissioner Valerie Covey. In the meantime, the county is looking for a sho…
