Williamson County seeks feedback on Hazard Mitigation Action Plan

Residents can review and leave comments on Williamson County’s Hazard Mitigation Action Plan.

Williamson County is gathering feedback on the draft plan until November 15. The draft is available on the county’s website www.wilcotx.gov/218/Emergency-Management. Comments can be emailed to oem@wilco.org.

According to the county, the Hazard Mitigation Plan is being updated to minimize or eliminate the long-term risk to human life and property from known hazards in the area, such as severe weather or wildfires, through effective mitigation.

The draft update includes a risk overview of hazards, mitigation goals and actions that each of the participating entities can take to lessen the impact of these risks.

Williamson County sought public feedback at several points through this action plan update process. A survey was conducted that allowed residents to give their input on the mitigation plan and the most significant hazards facing our county. In addition, public meetings were held to give the public more information on the plan and its purpose.

The action plan is a joint effort of Williamson County, City of Hutto, Meridian World School, Hutto ISD, Liberty Hill ISD and Georgetown ISD.
