Warren Frank “Butch” Diessner, 77, passed away on February 13, 2025, in Cedar Park, Texas.
Born on July 11, 1947, Butch grew up in Texas and graduated from Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Texas State University and while in the military obtained a Master of Public Administration degree from Ball State University.
In 1969, Butch entered the United States Air Force, serving honorably as a captain until his discharge in 1973. Following his military service, he enjoyed the majority of a distinguished career with Southwest Airlines. He joined the company in 1992 as a Customer Service Supervisor in Phoenix, Arizona, and steadily advanced. In 1998, he was promoted to Regional Director for the West and Mid-West Region, a position he held until his retirement in 2006. Throughout his career, Butch received numerous customer service awards and was recognized for his leadership and contributions to the company’s culture.
Known for his charisma and sociability, Butch formed countless friendships throughout his life.
A proud member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity during college, he maintained close bonds with his fraternity brothers, as well as with friends from his military and professional circles. He had a deep passion for the outdoors and hunting, traveling across the western United States, northern Canada and southern Africa for hunting expeditions.
In addition to his many friends, Butch is survived by his nieces Ginger Berdoll, Brittany Royal, and Courtney Akel; great-nieces Meadow Akel, Dana Moses, and Taylor Berdoll; and great-nephew Jarrod Berdoll. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Warren Diessner, and his sisters, Judy Royal and Carol Diessner.
Butch also cherished wine tasting events with his Sun City neighbors, regular excursions to Las Vegas, and his beloved dog, Abby. His warmth and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
