Unemployment rate falls in Williamson County
The Texas Workforce Commission released updated unemployment numbers for Central Texas counties for April 2025.
In April, unemployment in Williamson County fell from 3.5 percent in March to 3.2 percent. For the City of Georgetown, about 130 residents filed unemployment claims, according to Texas Workforce data. Wilco has more than 1,000 unemployment claims.
The top five industry unemployment claims for the county are:
- Temporary help services
- Professional employer organizations
- Computer and software merchant wholesalers
- Custom computer programming services
- Computer systems design services
Since April 2024, the local labor force has grown by 18,137 residents, with 16,942 of them securing jobs in the area, according to the report. At 3.2 percent, 23,211 residents in the nine-county Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area are actively looking for work.
The average unemployment rate for Central Texas dropped to 3.2 percent. The region’s rate stayed below the state rate, which dropped to 3.7 percent in April, and below the national rate, which decreased to 3.9 percent.
