‘Swimming is the fountain of youth’
East View High School counselor Alan Oakes has a few goals for his plunge into the cold waters of San Francisco Bay on June 28.
He wants to challenge himself in the two-mile, open-water Alcatraz swim while celebrating his 60th birthday. Most importantly, he wants to support The Locker, a Georgetown nonprofit that provides students with essential items to help them succeed in school.
