The Assistance League of Georgetown Area has launched a volunteer partnership with ABC Home and Commercial Services.
The initiative began July 15 with a Community Partner Day event at the league’s thrift shop and outreach facilities.
Austin-based ABC Home and Commercial Services provides pest control, HVAC, plumbing, landscaping and lawn care
services. During the event, ABC volunteers assisted customers at the thrift store, organized merchandise, moved large furniture and completed minor maintenance projects Marilyn Kounnas — president of Assistance League of Georgetown Area — said the organization is grateful for ABC’s support and efforts as their first community partner.
“As a locally owned business, ABC shares our values of service, community and compassion,” said Yvonne Woodburn, ALGA VP of marketing and communications. “Their enthusiasm and generosity made the first ALGA Community Partner Day a tremendous success.”
The thrift store is operated by volunteers and is the greatest source of revenue for the nonprofit, amounting to $500,000 each year. It is located at 900 North Austin Avenue, Suite 115, Georgetown.
